New Coffee, Roaster Coming to Milford: Monday Handbook

MILFORD, MA – Welcome to the May 16 edition of the Monday Manual, where we highlight important events coming up during the week in the Patch communities between Wayland and Worcester.

Here’s what you need to know for the week of May 16:

A new cafe and roaster soon to open in Milford will go to the Select Board on Monday for a joint stocker licence, a final step in any restaurant opening. The Blooming Hearts Roastery & Cafe will be located at 206 East Main St. (Route 16).

It’s going to be a big week for the Conservation Commission. Among many other items, the meeting scheduled for Monday will include approvals for two major projects in Worcester: the renovation of the 300 Southbridge St. property – formerly The Bridge – into residences and the demolition of the Piccadilly Plaza shopping center along Shrewsbury Street . The Conservation Commission is usually a first step in the development process.

The Wayland Public Schools Foundation will host an “Amazing Race” fundraiser in town on Sunday. Teams of locals can work together to race through town, answering trivial questions to advance in the contest. The registration deadline is Thursday.

There will be a balloon test in Marlborough on Wednesday for the planned 276-unit apartment building in the French Hill area. During the test, balloons will float at the approximate height of the proposed building to show how it might affect the city’s skyline. The test starts at 5 p.m. (the rain date is Thursday at 5 p.m.).

It will be a good week to eat a burger. The Westborough High School National Honor Society will host a fundraiser on Tuesday at MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes in Northborough. Find more details here.

Despite having been open for months, the Sudbury History Center and Museum held a long-delayed Grand Opening Ceremony over the weekend. The museum is now open six days a week and showcases centuries of local history.

Remember, Route 140 at I-290 will be completely closed for up to two nights this week. But construction will continue all week along the viaduct near Boylston.
