The new Reading cafe is set to open in the former Caffe Nero in July

A new cafe will open in Reading this summer. Black Sheep Coffee already has cafes and cocktail bars in the UK, France and the Philippines.

Located on Queen Victoria Street in Reading, the cafe is due to open on July 26 in place of a former Caffè Nero. It will be the second Black Sheep cafe to open in Berkshire – with one already open in Windsor.

The building was given Grade II listed status in December 1978, which meant that any changes had to be approved. The new cafe is well advanced as the building shows scaffolding around the square as well as signage for the Black Sheep Coffee.

The company has around 45 branches across the UK offering unique drinks, a coffee bean subscription and Norwegian waffles. Signature flavors include: Robusta Revival, Rebel Decaf, Love Berries, Blue Volcano and Bossa Nova.

Each has its own story as to where the beans come from, when they are harvested, and the significant flavors each imparts. The Robusta Revival came “from the mineral-rich soils along the Bhadra River and producing intense chocolate flavors, there was no hesitation in choosing this bean as our home espresso”.

Black Sheep Coffee co-founder Eirik Holth said, “Our customers have been asking us about Reading for years and we’re thrilled to finally open the first Black Sheep Coffee in this epic historic city!”
